Getting started
Create your Myzo account, add your first child, and pair their device. Should take about 10 minutes.

Myzo is two apps. Myzo Parents runs on your phone — the dashboard, task creation, rewards, reports, all the parent-facing controls. Myzo Kids runs on your child's phone — the timer, their task list, their rewards balance, their progress. This guide walks you through getting both apps installed and linked so you're ready to work with your kid.
Before you start
You'll need:
- Your phone (iOS or Android).
- Your child's phone (iOS or Android). If they don't have one yet, you can install Myzo Kids on any spare device — an old iPad works.
- About 10 minutes.
- A payment method for the 14-day free trial. You'll pick between paying via getmyzo.com (Paddle) or the App Store (Apple) during onboarding. We won't charge you during the trial, and you can cancel any time before it ends. See Subscription + billing for the details.
1. Install Myzo Parents on your phone
Open the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) on your phone.
Search for Myzo Parents and install.
Open the app. You'll land on a short welcome carousel — swipe through it, then tap Get Started.
2. Create your account
Enter your email address and tap Send code. We'll email you a 6-digit verification code within a few seconds.
Type the code into the next screen. It expires after 10 minutes — if it does, tap Send a new code and try again.
Pick a password and confirm it. Passwords must be at least 10 characters and include a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Tick the Terms of Service checkbox (required) and, if you want, the marketing-emails checkbox (optional — we send at most one email a month with product news, and you can unsubscribe any time).
3. Answer four quick questions
Myzo asks four questions during onboarding — about your kid's focus challenges, how they handle tasks, what motivates them, and how much visibility you want. Your answers tune the app's copy in a few places so it lands right for your kid. None of it is mandatory and you can skip any question.
4. Add your first child
The Add Child screen has two paths side-by-side:
- Enter Code (the primary card) — if your child has already opened Myzo Kids on their own phone and picked NO ACCOUNT YET — Start on my own, they'll see a 6-character setup code on their screen. Type it in here and Myzo links their existing in-progress account to your family in one step.
- Or add manually — a drawer for the case where you're setting up from scratch. Tap to expand and follow the fields below.
Either path ends up in the same place. If you're using the manual drawer:
Enter your child's first name. First name only — no last names on kids' records, ever.
Pick their grade level and, if applicable, whether their school runs on semesters, quarters, or trimesters. This tunes the task planner so long assignments spread across the right window.
Choose whether Flash Cards are enabled for this kid. Flash Cards let a child (or you) scan a study sheet and turn it into a swipeable review deck. You can turn this off if your kid's school doesn't use that study style.
Pick which task types you want grades tracked for. Tests and quizzes are always tracked automatically. Homework, projects, essays, and "other" are opt-in.
Set a 4-digit PIN. Your kid will use this to sign into their app. Confirm the PIN when the modal pops up.
5. Install Myzo Kids on your child's phone
Hand your kid's phone over for this step, or do it yourself.
On the child's phone, open the App Store or Play Store and install Myzo Kids.
Open the app. Your kid will see a short welcome carousel while they wait for you to scan the QR code from your app.
6. Pair the two apps with the QR code
On your (parent) phone, you'll see a QR code screen after finishing the PIN step. If you closed out, go to Settings → Add Child and the QR code will re-appear.
Open the Camera app on your child's phone and point it at the QR code on your screen. A yellow banner will appear at the top of their screen.
Tap the yellow banner. Myzo Kids will open and immediately ask for the PIN.
Have your kid enter the PIN you set in step 4. They're now signed in.
7. Your first task
Once your kid signs in, they'll run through their own short tutorial that walks them through the dashboard, timer, flashcards, rewards, and progress screens. At the end, the tutorial prompts them to add their first real task — the assignment they're actually working on that day.
