Notifications
Every push and email Myzo Parents can send you, what triggers each one, and how to turn them off.
Updated 2026-09-23
Myzo sends you notifications only for things you'd actually want to know about — a new task, a completed session, a redeemed reward, a weekly wrap-up. Nothing marketing-flavored, no engagement pings, no "come back to the app!" nudges. This page lists every notification the app can send and how to control them.
Push notifications (parent app)
These come to your phone from Myzo Parents.
- Task added — your kid created a new task.
- Task completed — your kid marked a task done.
- Session started — your kid began a focus session.
- Session ended — your kid finished a focus session (with total minutes and blocks completed).
- Reward redeemed — your kid spent XP on a reward. You'll want to actually deliver the reward.
- Achievement unlocked — your kid hit a milestone worth marking.
- Grade entered — your kid entered a grade on a completed task.
Each type can be turned on or off individually in Settings → Notifications → Push.
Email notifications
- Weekly summary — every Sunday evening, a short recap of the week's focus time, tasks, XP, grades, and achievements.
- Account changes — password reset, email change, subscription renewal, subscription cancellation.
- Comp code expiry — if you're on a complimentary access code, a 7-day and 1-day warning before it ends (see Subscription + billing).
The weekly summary is the only one you can turn off — the others are transactional and always send. Turn it off in Settings → Notifications → Email → Weekly summary.
Enabling push notifications for the first time
The first time you launch Myzo Parents, we don't ask for notification permission immediately — you get to try the app first. The prompt appears after you've completed onboarding and either added a task or tapped a notification-related setting, whichever comes first.
If you dismissed the prompt and now want to enable notifications:
Open your phone's Settings app.
Scroll to Myzo Parents.
Tap Notifications and toggle Allow Notifications on.
Back in Myzo Parents, go to Settings → Notifications to fine- tune which types you want.
Kid-side notifications
The Kids app also sends its own notifications — a session-ending chime, a reminder if a task is due tomorrow. Those are configured inside the Kids app on your kid's phone. See Notifications on the Kids app for details.
Silent mode and the timer chime
Every sound in the Kids app respects the ringer switch: on silent or vibrate, the app is quiet. The one exception is the timer chime at the end of a focus block or break, which plays regardless, like an alarm. It also repeats for up to 30 seconds, or until your kid taps.
That exception is deliberate. The end of a block is the moment the app needs to reach a kid who has put the phone down and walked off — a single chime into a silenced phone is a block that never ends.
What's next
- Getting started — the whole first-run flow.
- Rewards + XP — the source of most reward-side notifications.
- Subscription + billing — the transactional-email side.
